The ICE GENESIS project is being carried out by a consortium (led by AIRBUS OPERATION SAS) made up of 30 EU and non-EU partners from 9 countries (France, Austria, Italy, UK, Germany, Belgium, Switzerland, Canada and Japan).

Each ICE GENESIS partner offers the multi-disciplinary expertise which is required in order to impact the aeronautical sector and to provide the expertise needed to meet the expectations from the participants, the industry and the European Commission.

AIRBUS HELICOPTERS

Airbus (AIH) will bring its expertise as helicopter manufacturer. Airbus strives to provide the most efficient helicopter solutions to its customers who serve, protect, save lives and safely carry passengers in demanding environments. Its helicopters are in service across more than 150 countries worldwide, performing nearly every type of vertical flight task imaginable. The company’s product line offers the full spectrum of rotary-wing aircraft solutions for civil, government, military, law enforcement and parapublic uses.
Its civilian helicopters range from the light single-engine H125 to the 11-ton twin-turbine H225 rotorcraft. Military versions are mission-proven in the most demanding front-line conditions, and are trusted by more than 160 armed forces worldwide.

Role in the project

Airbus Helicopters will lead the stream related to snow capabilities development and validation. It will provide industrial requirements for the development and validation of numerical and test capabilities (WP3), will follow-up the characterization of the snow conditions (WP5), the development of the snow capabilities (WP7, WP10) and the snow wind tunnel tests (WP8). It will also contribute to the validation of the ONERA 3D icing Tools, for both Appendix C and Snow conditions, on representative rotorcraft test cases and will participate to the definition of best practices (WP11).
Airbus Helicopters will also bring its expertise in terms of TRL maturity demonstration process. It will contribute to the definition of the appropriate criteria and will attend TRL reviews.
