The ICE GENESIS project is being carried out by a consortium (led by AIRBUS OPERATION SAS) made up of 36 EU and non-EU partners from 10 countries (France, Austria, Italy, UK, Germany, Belgium, Switzerland, Russia, Canada and Japan).

Each ICE GENESIS partner offers the multi-disciplinary expertise which is required in order to impact the aeronautical sector and to provide the expertise needed to meet the expectations from the participants, the industry and the European Commission.

FEDERALNOE GOSUDARSTVENNOE UNITARNOE PREDPRIYATIE CENTRALNII INSTITUTAVIACIONOGO MOTOROSTROENIYA IMENI PI BARANOVA

Being the Russian Federation’s State Research Center, the 'P.I. Baranov Central Institute of Aviation Motors' Federal State Unitary Enterprise is a world-class scientific center, an organization conducting a whole scope of research activities necessary for the development of aircraft engines and gas turbine units based on them. The Institute possesses a unique, Europe's largest facility for ground and altitude testing of engines, their systems and components. All types of full-scale engine testing, including its systems and components can be carried out on the Institute's test rigs. Some of the most complex and power-consuming types of mandatory aircraft engine tests simulating full-scale operating conditions (altitude, speed, temperature, humidity, etc.) in Europe can be conducted at the CIAM Research Center only.

Role in the project

CIAM will take part to the following activities:
• Research of icing conditions of ice crystals and mixed phas (WP3)
• Upgrade of an existing icing wind tunnel (IWT) for conducting tests in climatic conditions of ice crystals and mixed phase ( WP4)
• Engineering tests of aircraft and engine elements and Design of numerical methods for calculating icing process in ice crystals conditions. Validation of numerical tools using test results.(WP6)
