The ICE GENESIS project is being carried out by a consortium (led by AIRBUS OPERATION SAS) made up of 30 EU and non-EU partners from 9 countries (France, Austria, Italy, UK, Germany, Belgium, Switzerland, Canada and Japan).

Each ICE GENESIS partner offers the multi-disciplinary expertise which is required in order to impact the aeronautical sector and to provide the expertise needed to meet the expectations from the participants, the industry and the European Commission.

SAFRAN AIRCRAFT ENGINES

SAFRAN AIRCRAFT ENGINES is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of aircraft and rocket engines. Among others, SAFRAN AIRCRAFT ENGINES designs, develops, produces and markets, alone or in partnership, engines for civil and military aircraft.
As such, SAFRAN AIRCRAFT ENGINES developed expertise for large engine icing certification, for both EASA and FAA regulations. This includes evaluation of the icing threat by empirical and analytical means, design of anti-ice systems and icing tests for engines, as well as participation to international cooperation such as Engine Ice Working Group and Ice Crystals Consortium.
Engine icing problematic being directly linked to its core business, SAFRAN AIRCRAFT ENGINES has already been involved in several successful research programmes such as HAIC or STORM, for which SAFRAN AIRCRAFT ENGINES was the coordinator. SAFRAN AIRCRAFT ENGINES is also involved in upcoming MUSIC-haic research program.

Role in the project

With the other industrial partners, SAFRAN AIRCRAFT ENGINES participate in  the achievement of the requirements for icing wind tunnel tests and  numerical tools. SAFRAN AIRCRAFT ENGINES will contribute to the acquisition of experimental database for engine components (WP8) and lead the final assessment of 3D numerical tools (WP11).
